(A radio talk show on Radio One FM90- June 20, 2025)On June 21, 2025 WDN-U Executive Director on invitation by Civic Space TV appeared as a panelist. The discussion on Civic Space focused on proposals by government including: establishing a statutory body to run the network of NGOs and a basket fund to receive and disburse funds to NGOs from their partners. Currently, NGO networks like the Uganda National NGO Forum, DENIVA and UWONET are the umbrella networks of NGOs in Uganda. For years, NGOs have filled the gap where government is absent including provision of legal aid, capacity building for elected leaders, civic education, advocacy for respect for human rights, accountability and effective use of government resources, services. It is important to address the current gaps affecting the sector and facilitate its growth without hampering its contributions to Ugandans.
